Plumbing Residential Service and Repair Instructional Position
The George Brazil Home Services Trade Institute will provide an e-learning experience that has never be attempted in our industry. It is our mission to provide a fully trained Service and Repair Plumber ready to go to work upon completion of our on-line course. This course will combine on-line training as well as hands on experience and mentoring.
George Brazil has been in the service business over 49 years. He has specialized in residential service and repair plumbing for over 40 years. George Brazil Home Services is a leading service and repair contractor in Arizona; and even during these tough economic times we’re exceeding our growth and revenue goals, as well as surpassing all sales and growth goals previously established within our company.
The ideal candidate;

  • Will have at least twenty years of experience in the field of residential service and repair plumbing, while operating in a professional service environment with at least ten field service technicians.
  • Have at least ten years in a supervisory position with at least ten field technicians.  
  • Should be able to demonstrate stand-up instructional skills in a classroom environment.
  • Can prove an extensive background in diagnosing plumbing issues and providing solutions for repairs.
  • Is clean cut, professional and presentable in appearance.
  • Should be comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Must be organized and able to think quickly to answer questions during classroom sessions.
  • Can project and instill the ideals and the ideas of the curriculum so the student can fully understand the lesson and retain the information.
  • Needs to instill confidence and credibility in the skills taught.
  • Will be able to fully research items for inclusion in to the curriculum utilizing the internet, our extensive library and many other resources available.
  • Has developed curriculum, followed or presented curriculum based on their extensive trade knowledge.
  • Develops curriculum based on extensive knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code, The International Plumbing, Residential and the Fuel Gas Codes.
  • Understands and can instruct code and installation standards as identified in code appendices’.
  • Uses their extensive knowledge on the proper use of all trade related materials including standards and applications.
  • Has extensive knowledge of the installation and repair of all types of fixtures found in residential applications.
  • Establish the skills needed for the safe use of trade tools and their proper application as well as all safety training relating to the trade.
  • Forms the necessary skills in the student that would allow them to understand plumbing issues and provide the techniques and methodology to troubleshoot and repair the issues.
  • Mentor the student’s people skills.
  • Builds the skills the student needs that would allow them to educate their future clientele on plumbing issues as well as provide the client with recommendations and/or options for repairs to, or replacement of their plumbing system in a clear and concise manner using layman’s terms.
  • Will collaborate with nine advisors selected from different areas of the United States to assist in developing curriculum utilizing their local code standards.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a background check, physical, and drug screening program.
  • Be able to provide verifiable employment history with letters of recommendation from previous employers.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
  • Meet strict deadlines with high quality professional materials.

Compensation:

Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications, skills and abilities of the person chosen for this position.

Thank you for inquiring about the position with George Brazil Services. We are a stable industry leader that has been in business since 1955 and one of the largest service contractors in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Our call volume has consistently exceeded our ability to service each call, even during the most recent difficult economic times.

You need to have a minimum of 5-years of recent residential service and repair work to qualify. This means interacting directly with the homeowner. You must possess the skills to estimate, bill and collect monies (cash, check or credit card) at time of completion for every job. We prefer you to either have experience in or be familiar with flat-rate billing and pricing as we use a flat-rate billing system.

Pay Rate: Your pay rate will be commensurate with your previous experience, your ability to communicate, and your performance. We also offer monthly performance bonuses and vacation pay as well as an annual bonus.

On Call: We work on a weekly rotation for emergency on-call service. Each technician is obligated to take service calls each night and throughout the weekend during the week they are on call. With our current rotation, you would be on-call for one week every 10 weeks.

ALL applicants are required to complete a screening process by our bonding and insurance companies before actual hiring.

This process includes:

  • A criminal background check looking at all activity for the last 10 years

  • An acceptable 5-year Motor Vehicle Record

As an employee of George Brazil Services, you will be provided with the following benefits as part of your employment:

Health Insurance: We currently provide group health insurance through Humana. You will be eligible on the first of the month following completion of your 90-day probationary period for the option of enrollment in either a PPO or HSA health plan. The company pays over 50% of the employee monthly HSA cost (PPO cost slightly higher) until you have completed one year of service. The company then pays 100% of the employee monthly HSA cost until reaching two years of service at which time the company will contribute toward dependent or spousal coverage (current contribution is $115.00; only eligible if spouse or dependents are enrolled).

Dental: You will be eligible for enrollment in our SecureCare scheduled benefits group coverage the first of the month following completion of your 90-day probationary period. This plan provides for discounted dental procedures for all enrollees. This is a company paid benefit for the employee. The employee may elect to pay for the enrollment of their spouse and/or dependants.

Life Insurance: You will be eligible for a $25,000 life insurance policy issued through Guardian Life. This will be available the first of the month following completion of your 90-day probationary period. This is a company paid benefit.

Short & Long Term Disability Insurance: You will be eligible for both short and long term disability income coverage that provides you with benefits in the event of a qualifying disability. This will be available the first of the month following completion of your 90-day probationary period. This is a company paid benefit.

Vacation Pay: After completion of one year of service, you will be eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation (20 hours for billable hour paid technicians). Vacation pay will increase to 80 hours annually after three years and 120 hours annually after five years (40 and 60 respectively for billable hour paid technicians).

401K Retirement Plan: The first day of the calendar quarter following completion of six months of service, you will be eligible for enrollment in a 401K retirement plan sponsored by Guardian. The company provides a 50% matching contribution, up to a maximum contribution of 3% of gross compensation, on your payroll contributions to your 401K plan. Vesting in the portion contributed by the company is earned at a rate of 20% per year of service, reaching fully vested status after five years of service.

Sign-On Bonus: Certain technicians may be eligible for one of two sign-on bonuses. The first is a $2,000.00 sign-on bonus that will pay $500.00 after 90 days of continuous employment and an additional $1,500.00 after 180 days of continuous employment. The second option is a $5,000.00 relocation bonus that will reimburse you for up to $5,000 of your qualified moving expenses incurred to relocate to the Phoenix area from outside of Arizona. This bonus is paid at the completion of one year of continuous employment. If eligible, you may choose only one of these two options.

Sunsplash: Every August, George Brazil Services provides the employees and their immediate families a chance to cool off in the “hot sun” at a local water park for a fun filled day with a BBQ lunch provided and a gift for each child attending.

Halloween: Our Warehouse is transformed into a Halloween theme for the annual George Brazil Services Halloween Party. A buffet-style dinner with desserts and beverages is served throughout the evening along with snow cones and cotton candy. Entertainment includes a petting zoo, inflatable bouncy cages for the children and cash prizes awarded for the “Best Adult Costume,” “Best Child Costume,” and “Best Pumpkin Carving.” Pictures will be taken throughout the entire event.

Christmas: In the afternoon prior to the company adult party, Santa and an elf/helper or a clown with magic tricks and balloons will be on hand with gifts for each child with cake, ice cream, and beverages served throughout the party. There will also be picture taking on Santa’s knee. In the evening, employees and their spouses will enjoy a delicious buffet style dinner with desserts and beverages. George will acknowledge top producers for the year with special recognition followed by a “Casino” themed night with Black Jack, Roulette, and Craps tables. Upon completion of casino night, $5,000-$7,000 worth of prizes will be raffled off. Last year we gave away two grand prizes for two lucky winners: 42” Flat Panel TV’s.

Birthdays: George Brazil Services celebrates birthdays for all employees, their spouses and their children with a birthday card which includes a gift card to celebrate their special day.

Our computerized warehouse restocks the service trucks every day, making sure that you have the parts you used back on your truck within 48 hours. All trucks are equipped with new backup cameras and each technician is allowed to take the truck home every day. We have our own on site mechanic to ensure your service truck is always up and running and we even have our own truck washing bay. We also offer continual training every day in our morning meetings. We provide 13 sets of uniforms that are laundered weekly; we will replace your work shoes; and give you a hat and a belt. Each technician is also supplied with a company cell phone for quick access to the dispatcher.
